Greetings fellow nerds Back in 2009 I showed how to make hot ice from sodium acetate. Most of my experiments at the time were on the small scale, so let’s do it one more time on a much larger scale. Here is a nice big jar of liquid sodium acetate trihydrate, enough to stick my whole hand in. It’s already been melted and chilled and is ready for use. Right now I’m coating my hand in sodium acetate to provide nucleation sites for initiating hot ice crystallization. Okay we’re ready. Now.
